President's Report

The Mission of OVBTA continues to be
“Growth Through Strong Educational Programs.”

The OVBTA Board is committed to enhancing the travel profession by sponsoring educational and informational programs for our members, and by providing top-rated speakers to address travel-related issues, concerns and current "hot topic" items. Our events are an excellent venue for the sharing of travel-related information and professional expertise where we are focused on perfecting the science of business travel management. We provide a great way to network and learn from each other.

As I enter my second term as your President, I want to extend my thanks to all OVBTA members for the support and the confidence that you have shown in me to lead us into the future. I am honored and excited for the great things we can accomplish these next 2 years. I just ask that you get involved! This is your organization and the more hands at work the greater success we will have together.

A special thanks to the 2016 -2017 Board of Directors and all Committee Chairs for the great work that you have accomplished. OVBTA has grown 20% to over 200 members strong and we are continuing to grow. It is because of your dedication and commitment that OVBTA has been so successful. I am honored to be among such great travel industry professionals that I can call my friends.

In September elections were held for the office of Vice President. I want to thank Bobbie Huber, Dave Spurlock and Jill Huffman who as committed members chose to make a difference in our organization. We had a great turnout of members who took the time and initiative to vote. It is very exciting to have so many people interested in leadership within OVBTA, and this is very helpful to our Chapter in succession planning and ensuring we stay relevant in our mission for the future.

Thanks and Congratulations

I want to thank Dave Spurlock for his time and commitment serving as our Vice President for the 2016/2017 term, and congratulate Bobbi Huber for securing her seat as our new VP for the 2018/2019 term. Jill Huffman has been a longtime member and we look forward to her continued support.

Bobbi Huber

Dave Spurlock

I want to personally extend an invitation for you to join us at our 2018 meetings to experience first-hand everything that we have to offer for both you and your organization. Please feel free to reach out to me or a member of our board with ideas, feedback or questions you may have about OVBTA. Your input and support is vital to our chapter’s success and the advancement of the travel industry and our many colleagues in various local businesses.

Thank you for your interest and support. I look forward to seeing all at the OVBTA November Meeting and in the new year. My best wishes to all for a Happy and Healthy 2017 Holiday Season and much success in 2018!

Community Service

Ohio and Michigan on the Same Team?

Oh, yes we were! The Michigan and Ohio Valley Chapters teamed up to raise money for our fellow members who have been impacted by the fierce hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria. Our goal was to raise $1000, but at the close of our Joint Education Day in Michigan, we raised over $1500! A big thank you to these OVBTA members who generously donated items!

Another great way to support OVBTA is to take advantage of sponsoship and fundraising opportunities. Membership Minute

Share your OVBTA Experience!

The OVBTA continues to grow and attract new members. New members are a cirtical cog in insuring a strong chapter that delivers quality programs and events. Most potential members visit the website to learn about our organization, the people and the programs. Many also want to read what current members have to say about their membership so we've added a testimonial section to the OVBTA web site on which current members can share their OVBTA experiences.

We'd appreciate if you'd to take a few moments to share your OVBTA experience with our chapter and meetings. Click here to be taken to the testimonial page and you will see a button at the bottom of the page that links to the testimonial form.

Thanks in advance for your time and comments!

Program Recap and Updates

At OVBTA, our mission continues to be “Growth Through Strong Educational Program”, and the Program Committee is excited to bring that educational content to the OVBTA members. So far this year, we have learned about Risk and Traveler Safety in Cincinnati, how to build a “Best In Class” traveler program in Indianapolis, and most recently, we learned about emerging technology trends in travel in Cleveland. We are finishing the year strong with a great program on Best Practices for Reporting and Analysis.

The Program Committee is already planning on the programs for 2018, and we are looking forward to another of year engaging and rewarding programs.
