President's Report

The Mission of the OVBTA Board in 2017 continues to be
“Growth Through Strong Educational Programs.”

The OVBTA Board is committed to enhancing the travel profession by sponsoring educational and informational programs for our members, and by providing top-rated speakers to address travel-related issues, concerns and current "hot topic" items.  Our events are an excellent venue for the sharing of travel-related information and professional expertise where we are focused on perfecting the science of business travel management.  We provide a great way to network and learn from each other.

I am pleased to announce that because of the hard work of the OVBTA Board and our Mission to provide strong educational programs OVBTA has exceeded 200 members.  At the June meeting, Membership Chair Bobbi Huber, announced a 20% increase in Membership!  This is an exciting milestone and we appreciate all those who helped us achieve it. To date we have 208 members.  So if you haven't been to a meeting lately come join us.  Our August meeting is all about Technology and has a great line up of top industry speakers.  Watch for up coming details.

Program Recap and Updates

2 down and 2 more to go!

We are halfway through the year, and the Program Committee is very excited about the meetings and educational content  that has already happened. In Cincinnati, we received an in-depth review of the current issues relating to Risk and Globalization, and then renowned travel security expert and speaker, Kevin Coffey educated us on critical factors and the departments to include when developing a duty-of-care program. In addition he shaared valuable insights and common-sense suggestions to avoid being taken advantage of while traveling.

In Indianapolis, we learned not only the principles of building a Best in Class travel program, but also were treated to a “Presidential Address” from none other than GBTA President Christle Johnson. If you weren’t able to make those meetings, we still have two more remaining for the year.

August 24 Meeting

Mark your calendars for the August meeting in Cleveland, where we will be discussing “Technology Trends in Business”, with Tony D’Astolfo featured as one of our keynote speakers. We are in the process of confirming a couple of other dynamic speakers, so please stay tuned.

November 21 Meeting

Be sure to join us in Columbus for the Holiday meeting, which is always one of the favorite meetings of the year. In addition to the auction, we will be discussing “Policy Best Practices with Reporting and Analytics”. We will share more details on that meeting as we get closer. In the meantime, the Program Committee wants to say thanks to everyone who has attended the meetings, and we are looking forward to finishing the year strong.

Membership Minute

Share your OVBTA Experience!

As mentioned above, the OVBTA continues to grow and attract new members. New members are a cirtical cog in insuring a strong chapter that delivers quality programs and events. Most potential members visit the website to learn about our organization, the people and the programs. Many also want to read what current members have to say about their membership so we've added a testimonial section to the OVBTA web site on which current members can share their OVBTA experiences.

We'd appreciate if you'd to take a few moments to share your OVBTA experience with our chapter and meetings. Click here to be taken to the testimonial page and you will see a button at the bottom of the page that links to the testimonial form.

Thanks in advance for your time and comments!
